i had taught this to my dog from day one. it was january, and freaking cold. she learned very quickly and it turned out to be the MOST handy thing. ever been at the vet office and they say they need a urine sample or whatever? No problem! Get the pee collector thing or whatever take em outside, give the command.. viola. it was great. My key word was 'Go potty.'

just don't give any Water to the dog after 6pm. They don't pee or poop until 9am, they can last that long. But before 10pm you need to let the dog go out for a peep or poop.
Dogs dosen't work really good with lease, they like to be lose when they have to pee or poop. If your dog dosen't run away then you just let him lose for 5minutes.The best way to train your dog not to run away:get a collar and put on his Neck, Zap him couple times during training. They'll Obey you and not to run off.

I like the "get busy" phrase. Saying "go potty" to my dog just feels weird.

They scratch to smear scent it makes other dogs think she's much bigger than she is. You can reward her right away. Hopefully though she's not like my dog she will go out once to go poop get a treat, then beg to go out again to pee, she will actually do it again for another treat.
